The greenhouses in the Lumbe Gardens are part of the operating facilities of Prague Castle: this is where vegetation for outdoor gardens and indoor decoration is raised. Our task was to design a group of utilitarian greenhouses and their ancillary functions: employee changing-rooms, storage areas for gardening tools and materials, as well as special areas such as a cold-room for flower bulbs. Below the greenhouse is a 25m-long and 3m-deep tank for collecting rainwater to water the flowers. The actual greenhouse is essentially prefabricated industrial architecture; we used ready-made halls from the company Clauhan for it.
