Another of our assignments in the Prague Zoo after the flood in 2002 was supposed to be the pavilion for large cats. It had been completely sunk, with only the skylights sticking out, and the zoo director first wanted to have it completely rebuilt. Unfortunately, the city government didn’t agree, giving priority to investments outside of the flood zone. In the end, our role in the reconstruction was limited to the design of the entrance, with a massive wall of stone and wire mesh, as well as the attached “Mexican Sonora” exhibition and the anaconda terrarium, with its own interesting security needs for raising these impressive reptiles.
