An architectural study was commissioned to Aeropolis, coordinating the plan by SŽDC (Railway Infrastructure Administration Office) and Metroprojekt Praha a.s. to build a railway station in the very heart of the center of the Airport City. The design defines the essential features of the station and its links to the future expansion of Terminal 2, modification of Aviatická, and new development in the surroundings. The main feature is the simplicity of the mass and natural orientation of travelers through daylighting of the station by a series of light shafts grading towards the terminal. Aeropolis is an association of three architectural offices (rala, CMC, D3A) with a long history in the field of architecture and master planning. The impulse for associating was the winning award given to these offices in an international competition ‘Design of the public space in front of the Terminals 1 and 2 of the Václav Havel Airport Prague’. The Aeropolis association was established as a joint platform of these renowned offices, with their own specialized team of architects and engineers, to carry out the related works on this and other projects regarding complex transport structures and urbanistic complexes
